The Missouri Library Association (MLA) sponsors this award and it is given to the most outstanding picture book. Children in Kindergarten are encouraged to read this ten books and vote for their favorite.

Show Me Reader Award Nominees
The Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) sponsors this award. Children in grades 2 will listen to ten story books during story time each year. Student voting takes place in early spring and the winner is announced at the MASL spring conference.

Kc3 Award Nominees
The Greater Kansas City Association of School Librarians (GKCASL) sponsors this book award program for third graders. Students are encouraged to read the ten nominated books during the year. In the spring, students vote for their favorite title. Timber Creek student votes are combined with other Kansas City area student votes to determine the winner. These books are selected for their appeal to students who are beginning to read more lengthy materials.

Mark Twain Award Nominees
The Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) sponsors this award for chapter books written for students in grades 4-6. Each year 12 chapter books are nominated by librarians across the state. Students who read or listen to at least 4 of the nominees are eligible to vote for the award winner in March. The student-selected winner is announced at the annual MASL conference in April. The award was named after Missouri author Samuel Clemens who wrote Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.
